NHSAA Professional Development Program for 2023-24
The NHSAA Professional Development Committee has worked hard to develop a varied agenda that builds on our traditionally strong program themes while adding new and unique professional development opportunities.
Best Practices Conference on School Operations, Finance & Business Leadership, September 26 -27, 2023: Our annual statewide work session sponsored by the New Hampshire School Administrators Association (NHSAA) and the New Hampshire Association of School Business Officials (NHASBO) includes opening and closing daily Keynotes as well as presentations on new developments in collective bargaining, state law, auditing requirements, data collection, state financing practices, school safety, lease purchases, Department of Revenue Administration, federal funding, and the sharing of successful “Best Practices.” This program will feature a detailed discussion of educational funding for fiscal year 2023 and beyond, an update on state policy issues, and an opportunity to visit with exhibitors. Bradley F. Kidder Law Conference, October 4, 2023: New Hampshire’s top school attorneys will highlight new developments in school law on the topics of new laws, collective bargaining, privacy, use of media, school finance, personnel, special education, and more. This workshop is co-sponsored annually by the New Hampshire School Administrators Association (NHSAA), the New Hampshire Council of School Attorneys (NHCOSA), and the New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA). Best Practices Conference on Social Emotional Learning, October 24 - 25, 2023: This conference is in response to a growing need from member districts to address critical issues relating to students’ social-emotional learning including behavioral and mental health, at-risk behaviors, and substance abuse. This timely conference will focus on providing in-depth information and practical policies and strategies for schools and districts addressing the areas of trauma-sensitive classrooms, suicide prevention, social-emotional learning, mental wellness for staff and students, and more. 37th Annual Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference, November 27 - 30, 2023: - One of New England’s largest technology in education conferences, CMTC includes nearly 100 sessions focusing on the use of technology in all aspects of education. In addition, approximately 40 Solution Partners from across the country will showcase their latest products and services and provide learning opportunities for attendees. The New Hampshire School Administrators Association (NHSAA) and the New Hampshire Affiliate of the International Society for Technology in Education (NHSTE), in collaboration with the New Hampshire Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development (NHASCD), New Hampshire Association of School Principals (NHASP), and the NHCTO Council, sponsor this four-day hybrid event. Legislative Priorities (Part 1) - January 29, 2024 (half-day): A half-day program designed to inform members of critical new legislative issues being considered in the new session of the 2024 Legislature, meet legislative leaders, share new research, discuss member issues, and review legislation on the web.
Best Practices in Personnel Leadership, March 11, 2024: An important annual session for leaders in personnel management that includes presentations of best practices in developing, supervising, compensating, evaluating, hiring, and discharging of employees. Presentations will center on new developments in state law and regulations and the sharing of successful strategies, policies, and practices. Keynote speaker: TBD
Legislative Priorities (Part 2), March 25, 2024 (half-day): A half-day program designed to inform members of critical new legislative issues being considered in the new session of the 2024 Legislature, discuss NHSAA positions, and plan strategies.
Innovations in Learning Conference, April 9 -10, 2024: The Innovations in Learning (formerly Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment) Conference focuses on fresh and innovative practices in the classroom while offering an in-depth update on the status of curriculum development, the needs of the 21st Century Learner, and successful implementation of sustained change initiatives. In addition to our Keynotes the program will include a variety of concurrent sessions by New Hampshire educators featuring College and Career Readiness Practices, ELOs, personalization of learning, presentations by students enrolled in CTE Programs and many others.
